Alumni Academic Award
*Amount of Award: $ 400
One of the most significant uses for alumni
contributions to the GSU Alumni Association annual fund is to support the Alumni
Academic Awards program. These scholarships are given to worthy students
currently enrolled in degree programs in one of GSU's four colleges.
Eligibility
- Must be admitted to a degree program
- Must have a 3.75 accumulated grade point
average. New students will get their GPA from all previously graded work.
Current GSU students must have completed 12 graded hours and have a 3.75 for
all academic work at GSU
- All recipients (graduate or undergraduate)
must be enrolled for a minimum of 6 credit hours
- Recipients will be required to volunteer at
least two nights during the Alumni Phonathon.
NOTE: The following are not eligible to
receive the Award:
 | Community College Honors Scholars |
 | Recipient(s) of the Donald W. Hansen Endowed
Scholarship (in the same calendar year) |
 | Alumni Board Members |
 | GSU employees (this does not include students
receiving financial aid or state funds) |
Applications are accepted from May 15 through
July 31
- Complete and submit the application to the
Financial Aid Office. Applications will be reviewed and recipients selected
by the Selection Committee. Only winners of the awards will be notified by
mail.
- Sixty awards of $400 each will be granted to
students who meet the award requirements for both trimesters. Recipients
will receive $200 for the Fall trimester and $200 for the Winter trimester.
- The Office of Alumni Relations coordinates the
selection process.
Please note: You must re-qualify for the
Winter trimester in order to receive the award.
