Beverly Bank Weekend College Scholarships

*Amount of Award: $1,250 each for four scholarships In the spring of 1998 the Beverly Bancorp established the Beverly Bank Scholarship Fund for a new initiative at Governors State University which is to begin in the fall trimester . The grant provides student scholarships based on both academic excellence and financial need, with a preference for low-to-moderate income students from the local community who are pursuing a degree in the GSU College of Business and Public Administration Weekend Executive MBA Program.

Eligibility (Documentation of requirements is to accompany application)

  1. Students must be in good academic standing with a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale)

  2. Undergraduates about to enter grad school and graduate students may apply; preference will be given to those enrolled in the Weekend Executive MBA Program

  3. Students must document low to moderate income and significant financial need, although high academic performance alone can also determine eligibility

  4. Students must show interest in pursuing a business management career, to be determined by: a. enrollment in a business-oriented degree program or b. prior or current professional experience in a business setting.

Applications are Accepted from May 15 through July 31

  1. The application form is to be submitted with a letter/essay of 500 to 1,000 words containing a brief bio and describing academic interests, work experience and career goals.

  2. A letter(s) of recommendation from GSU faculty or administration may accompany the application or sent under separate cover.

  3. Application form and other required material are to be sent to GSU's Director of Financial Aid.

Selection

The selection committee, chaired and chosen by the Dean of CBPA, will review all applications. The chair will notify the Director of Financial Aid of the winners in time for the awards to be announced by September 1.

*Amount and number may vary based on current earnings and any addition to principal.
