Collegial Minority Scholarship
Program
*Amount of Award: Full Tuition (for one
year)
In 1990, the GSU Alumni Association established
the Collegial Minority Scholarship Program by allocating $10,000
"seed" money and a challenge to the deans of the academic colleges.
For each program the Association would provide $2,500, and the funds would be
used to award scholarships to minority students who would otherwise not be able
to attend college.
Eligibility
- Both graduate and undergraduate degree-seeking
minority students demonstrating need;
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.25 (graduate),
3.0 (undergraduate) and enrolled in at least 6 credit hours;
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident;
- Students should not be in default on any loan
or owe a refund on a grant under Title IV programs; and
- Recipients will be required to volunteer at
least two nights during the Alumni Phonathon.
Applications are accepted from May 15 through
July 31
- Students must submit a written essay (not to
exceed two pages) stating interests, goals and objectives, and a statement
on financial situation.
- Deans of colleges nominate.
- A selection committee will review the
applications. A total of four winners will be selected - - one from each of
the Colleges of Education, Arts & Sciences, Business & Public
Administration and Health Professions.
*Amount shall not exceed tuition costs and may
vary somewhat based on the total number of hours enrolled.
