Kimberly Edwards Endowed Scholarship

*Amount of Award: $500

Kimberly Edwards was a three-year-old who died while her mother was a student in the College of Health Professions.So grateful were her parents for the kindness of GSU personnel during their daughter's terminal illness, Mr. and Mrs. Edwards established this endowment in Kimberly's name to provide financial assistance to help needy CHP students continue their education.

Eligibility (Documentation of requirements is to accompany application)

Student must be enrolled or about to enroll for at least six credit hours, seeking a degree in GSU's College of Health Professions
Must be a citizen of the United States and a resident of Illinois
Must be judged in need of financial assistance by the selection committee
Must be in good academic standing
Special interest in pediatric nursing or working with children preferred, but award is open to all CHP students who meet eligibility requirements.

Applications are accepted from May 15 through July 31

CHP faculty and administrators should solicit eligible students to apply; they may also send or attach a letter of recommendation
Students may apply to the director of Financial Aid by letter, describing their commitment to a career in the health professions and reasons for choosing that field, their financial need, their work experience and/or academic background, a brief bio, and their eligibility for the award.

Selection

A committee will be formed to include the dean of CHP and a representative of the GSU Foundation to screen and select finalists.The Director of the Office of Financial Aid will announce the winner by September 1.
