Marie Gray Bertz Memorial Endowed Scholarship

*Amount of Award: $250-$500

Marie Bertz was Special Project Director in the College of Health Professions at GSU when she died in February, 1993.She was loved and treasured as a dear friend by all she worked with at GSU, and those she volunteered with in her community.A graduate of Governors State, Marie was able to complete her master's degree in 1981 because she was awarded a scholarship by the College of Health Professions.To mark that generous beginning, Ed Bertz established an endowed scholarship in his wife's memory, to assist a woman student returning to school planning a career in health professions.

Eligibility

Student must be an undergraduate degree-seeking woman returning to school who has not been enrolled at another institution for at least 2 years prior to enrolling at GSU, pursuing a career in the health professions
Must be in good academic standing and enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
Recipients will be required to volunteer at least two nights during the Alumni Phonathon.

Applications are accepted from May 15 through July 31

Students submit letter of interest to the dean.Nominations may also be submitted to the dean by division chairs, faculty, etc.
Office of Alumni Relations coordinates the selection process.
