Percy and Elizabeth Wagner Endowed Scholarship in Business/Finance

*Amount of Award: $1,000

Percy Wagner, a nationally respected real estate professional from Flossmoor, was the state's agent in the purchase of the property which now comprises the GSU campus.A member of the Board of the GSU Foundation, Wagner donated the materials for the rehabilitation of the white frame building, now called the Percy and Elizabeth Wagner House, which houses the university's development and alumni association staff.The Wagner scholarship is given each year to a GSU student who demonstrates preparation for anda strong commitment to a career in business, especially in real estate or finance.

Eligibility (Documentation of requirements is to accompany application)

Student must show intention of pursuing a career in business, especially in in real estate or in finance
Must be enrolled in a curriculum at GSU which will prepare him/her for a career in one of the above professions
Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Illinois
Work experience in real estate and/or finance may be included.

Applications are accepted from May 15 through July 31

Applicant should send bio and letter to the director of GSU's Office of Financial Aid.
Letter should document work experience (if any), commitment to the field, career plans, reason for the choice, qualities to prove eligibility, etc.
Faculty members and administrators may recommend students for the award.

Selection

CBPA may name representatives to serve on the selection committee.The name and bio of the winner will be sent to the director of Financial Aid in time to be announced by September 1.

*Amount may vary somewhat based on current earnings and addition, if any, to principal.
