College of Business and Public Administration Student Advisory Board Endowed Scholarship

*Amount of Award: $1,000 each for up to four students

This scholarship is an initiative of CBPA students. Established by the College's Student Advisory Board and funded by the board through a variety of student-sponsored fund-raising activities, the scholarship is designed to both stimulate and reward academic excellence in CBPA students who "already demonstrate commitment to college/ community service and a promise of leadership."

Eligibility (Documentation of requirements is to accompany application)

  1. Student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale

  2. Must carry a minimum of six hours in CBPA

  3. Must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of the State of Illinois

  4. Must have completed at least twelve graded hours at GSU; 5) full-time employees of GSU are not eligible for this award.

Applications are accepted May 15 through July 31

  1. Student must submit a personal letter of application which discusses his/her commitment to school and community service and which demonstrates his/ her leadership capabilities.

  2. Two appropriate letters of recommendation which affirm the applicant's service commitment and describe his/her leadership qualities are to accompany the application.

  3. All application material is to be sent to the Dean of the CBPA.

  4. The selection committee may solicit recommendations for the scholarships.

Selection

The Selection Committee will be composed of the Dean of the college and the president and vice-president of the college's Student Advisory Board. The committee shall consider no applicant who has failed to submit the required letter of application or for whom the requisite letters of recommendation have not been received. The committee chair will send to the director of the GSU office of Financial Aid, in writing, the names and bios of the winners in time for the awards to be announced by September 1.

*Amount may vary somewhat based on current earnings and variation, if any, in principal.
