Dr. Wayne B. Hamilton Memorial Scholarship *Amount of Award: Two trimester partial or full tuition waiver up to $850 Dr. Hamilton died in January, 1996, while serving as GSU's Provost. His widow endowed this scholarship in his memory; many members of the university community, along with friends and family, have contributed to the award. Eligibility (Documentation of requirements is to accompany application) In keeping with Dr. Hamilton's interest in adult learning theory, the applicant must be an adult learner (as opposed to one who has been a student continually since high school) with a GPA of 3.5 or better. The award is meant to benefit a student to whom completing a higher education degree will make a difference, one who brings experiential learning, maturity and a strong desire to succeed into the classroom.
Applications will be accepted from May 15 through July 31 Applicant is to submit with the application a bio and letter/essay of 500 to 1,000 words describing his/her educational and work history, accomplishments which support his candidacy, and career goals. A letter(s) of recommendation from GSU faculty or administration may accompany the application or be sent under separate cover. Application and other required material are to be sent to
Selection: Applications will be reviewed by the university selection committee, with representation from the Provost's office. GSU's Director of the Office of Financial Aid will announce the winner by September 1. *Amount may vary from year to year based on current earnings and any addition to principal.
