Within an ad, many ways can be used to get the attention of the target audience, including: News and Announcements |
News and announcements provide basic information about new products, new uses, new inventions: what they do, how they operate, what benefits do they provide? Consider the thousands of new electronic products developed in the recent past, and expect that this will continue and grow in the near future.
Many local retail ads are simple announcements: these items are available, here and now, at this price. Advertising in early America started this way: "A ship has landed in port with these goods."
Informational ads are generally the least controversial. Usually, the only issues here would be about the accuracy of the information, or any significant relevant omission.
Some critics today would like to restrict all ads to this kind of basic information. However, most ads today seek not only to inform, but also to persuade.
